Dealing With USPS can be a nightmare
Introduction
In this post I tell you about my experiences with USPS. I tell you about why USPS can be a nightmare to deal with at times, what I sold, and why I don't ship glass. Which USPS has improved but at times these issues can still happen. Scroll down to read all about it.
Bad Experiences With USPS
I have been doing this as a hobby to make extra money before 2020 and to get rid of stuff. I never have had any items stolen at my house before picking it up or when it gets to the buyer so I'm grateful for that. But usps has lost items through the years. But I have had them lose items without scanning or an item getting opened or damaged in transit. These are things that I have learned to deal with by packing the best I can. But the worst one was what I'm about to tell you about below.
What Did I Sell?
Back in 2022, I sold an Iron Maiden box set on eBay. The item was packed with bubble wrapped and shipped out in a box with a label. I shipped it out with media mail which the buyer wanted so he could save some money. The item was worth like 300$. I dropped it off at the post office. Then waited to see if the scan would show up so I could track it or get scanned at delivery which happens at times. After a week, I noticed that the item hadn't moved. I communicated with the buyer, and he wanted the item. I was glad the customer was very understanding because this was becoming stressful. So, I called customer service, gave the tracking numbers, and after talking to someone, this turned out to be that the box was still at my local post office and hasn't been scanned or moved in about a week. So, she reached out to someone at the post office near me, and the item got scanned, then delivered in about a week. The buyer lived in Mexico, but got it delivered to a family member in California. He told me a month later, he was very happy with the packaging and how the item showed up at his sister's house. This could have been prevented by the people at my local post office, by just scanning the item the first day it showed up at the post office, but we all know how they are ha-ha.

Why I don't Ship Glass?
If I sell something that has glass in it or too fragile, unless the item is something small, I sell it locally. I don't ship it because I have had usps throw stuff around and end up damaged in transit. I would have to work with the buyer to either send another item or refund the buyer. Which I try to avoid. So, if usps is a nightmare for you, don't feel alone. The post office is just one of the jobs that despite how lazy it can be, seems that no one get punished or fired.
