How Do I file Taxes?
Introduction
In this post I tell you about me doing taxes. How I have used both Turbo Tax and Freetaxusa. I have used both for different reason. Also, read why I have used freetaxusa to help with filing self-employment taxes. I have owed and even share about that. Just a regular job with a w2?
Then you need might want to click on turbo tax. You can file your w2 for free for both state and federal, unless you need help or need one of the agents to help you file your taxes as you import your w2 with either manual or take a picture and see how much you are getting back or if you owe for whatever reason. You get your money back within 21 days. This program is great for people that aren't complicated like above. It's easy to use. I have used it between 2016-2020 and highly recommend it. No more paying to a high dollar tax company and you can just do them yourself. Also, you can talk to them if you have any questions. But with using them, this will make you feel happy and smart. If I can do taxes, so can you.
Have I ever owed anything?
Yes, I have. I owed like 50$ back in 2018 when I was working and didn't get anything back for federal because I didn't have health care. I did use turbo tax which definitely did help. This was that Obamacare mandate bs that got me to owe. I can say I'm glad that went away a couple years later. Well, I rarely go to the doctor or get sick. I was young and felt like I didn't need that. I did go to urgent care and owed like 200$ and that came out of my state but that was like one of the last times in the past ten years that I have gone to a doctor or urgent care. I think I got like 300$, that was all I got and felt a little disappointed. I think I wanted to quit working swing shift at the time, but things change and wants in life how to wait, even when you have to pay the bills. I wasn't able to but didn't last much longer working that. The latest was in 2025 because of nec, I owed about 105$ for federal. But I have owned in the past. It's not fun.
What Other Tax Program Do I Use?
The tax Program I use for self-employed and filing my taxes is free tax usa. I have used them since 2021. I tried turbo tax for that, and they are great for people with W2 and having a job all year long. Like I was up until 2020. But if that's not your thing and you are like me, you need to click below on freetaxusa. You only have to pay like 16$ to do your state and it does it for you as in efile. Also, because if you are self-employed or independent contractor, you don't have any state tax or any state refunds. But you can file federal for free. You can use all your deductions. You have a 1095A, B or C, or whatever else you got then go with these guys. Even for gas, miles, utilities, etc.
Do I Help Others
I use them and even help some family and friends file with these guys. Also, you don't have to pay a large bill to some tax company. Like pay 300$ plus and find out you end up owing? You feel defeated, like how do I pay this? But with freetaxusa, you can do it yourself for free except pay 16$ to file for state. Click the link below, for free tax usa.
